Ending 2025 with New Resource Planning Features
First of all, thank you for all of our Pie customers supporting us this past year!
We’re wrapping up 2025 and planning 2026. This past year was a great year for improving our Pie project and portfolio management application.
This article covers new releases in 2025. It doesn’t include the bug fixes we made. As of now, our bug list is zero! And it feels good! However, if you find any or think you found one, please let us know. For a full list of release notes that includes both features and bug fixes, see the release notes.
New! Resource Planning with Show Work Effort Numbers Features
December 2025 New Features
The Pie “People Timeline” report has been in the application for years, but a new set of features improves resource planning and forecasting.
The feature starts with a new button called “Show work effort numbers” that displays planned work effort numbers for each team member for each day based on task assignments.
The second feature includes a CSV download showing work effort for each member day by day for a specific project or the entire portfolio of projects. The following video provides a short tour showing the report with work effort estimations for project planning and forecasting.

All Other 2025 New Features
July - September 2025 New Features
Done Sprints Date Format — Updated the date format on process boxes to be YYYY/MM/DD
Done Sprints Box Order — Added reorder boxes button from new to oldest, oldest to newest
Portfolio Timeline Report Visuals — Updated graphics so bars have a little more contrast
As you may know, Pie’s agile features have improved over time including the ability to run a project with multiple sprints in tandem for multiple scrum teams.
If your agile or hybrid agile projects have many sprints and iterations, you may find it easier now to sort your Done Sprints boxes from most recent to oldest rather than chronologically oldest to most recent. When you click on your Done Sprints slice, the first box on the left will be your last sprint. You can decide if you want them to show new to old or old to new. It’s now up to you.
June 2025 New Features
Empty Slice Options — When you create a project from scratch and start with an empty slice, the Create Task and the Create Process Box buttons now have options as shown below. Click the ellipses icon to display the popup with options:

Role Billing Rate — Now allowing role billing rates to show on recipe tasks when roles are assigned to them. We also fixed the default role rate so it updates in real time when the manager updates the billing rate for the role at the workspace level.
March - April 2025 New Features
OMP (On My Plate page) — Added real-time updates on the UI when adding or removing assignments. This adds instant updates across the project from the On My Plate page so you will not have to refresh the browser page.
Label Change — Update organization and workspace labels and popup help box text for a cleaner and more intuitive look.
Loading Message — Added a "Loading project ..." message for very large projects that take a few extra seconds to load so the user feels like things are still working rather than making them wonder if the app is frozen.
February 2025 New Features
Create Recipe From Project — Added a new create recipe from project option in the Recipe List page create recipe functions. This now makes two ways to create a recipe from a project. The other way is from inside the project settings.
